The Lord of our Lives

Word of the Spirit

Many people claim Jesus as their Savior, but Jesus must also be the Lord of their lives as well. We are called to seek after Him as our highest priority and must walk in spiritual obedience to Him.

And having been made perfect [uniquely equipped and prepared as Savior and retaining His integrity amid opposition], He became the source of eternal salvation [an eternal inheritance] to all those who obey Him...

- Hebrews 5:9 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Once we have received the Holy Spirit within us by our acceptance of Jesus by faith, we are renewed and are reborn into Jesus' spiritual kingdom.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].

- 2 Corinthians 5:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)

For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son...

- Colossians 1:13 Amplified Bible (AMP)

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

- Titus 3:4-7 New King James Version (NKJV)

Our old fellowship in Satan's spiritual kingdom of darkness is required to be left in our past. We cannot walk with feet in both kingdoms, but God calls us to be completely separated from Satan's spiritual kingdom of darkness/the world/the flesh. This separation from Satan's spiritual kingdom and our rooting into God's spiritual kingdom is holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

- Revelation 3:15-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

- Galatians 5:24 New King James Version (NKJV)

For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [live as those who are native-born to the Light] (for the fruit [the effect, the result] of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn [by experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [and letting your lifestyles be examples of what is most acceptable to Him—your behavior expressing gratitude to God for your salvation]. Do not participate in the worthless and unproductive deeds of darkness, but instead expose them [by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character]...

- Ephesians 5:8-11 Amplified Bible (AMP)

So indeed, those who call Jesus their Lord and love Him, will obey Him in spiritual obedience (walk in the Spirit).  Those who do so will have the blood of Jesus applied to them in the spiritual realm (and through His blood the fulfillment of God's Law / the works of the Law).

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

- 1 John 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV)

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

- Romans 8:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

Led by the Spirit

Jesus said that if we love Him, we will obey His commandments.  His commandments are spiritual works as He emphasized in the beatitudes and the letters to the seven churches and as He clarified in Matthew 22:37-39.

Once we accept Jesus as our Savior, we must follow Him as Lord in spiritual obedience as well.
